The Daviess County Public Schools district is participating in a statewide focus on school attendance, which will culminate with “High Attendance Day” on Thursday, Sept. 15. The campaign is sponsored by the Kentucky Directors of Pupil Personnel.

Windy Kretman, DCPS director of student services, said good attendance is a key element in a child’s academic success. “The mission of DCPS is to prepare students to succeed for life, and the first step to success is just simply being in attendance,” he said. “It’s so important for kids to be in school every day, so they can establish a strong foundation of knowledge on which to build year after year.”
