If you were to start listing Owensboro landmarks, there are places that would immediately come to mind for just about anybody familiar with the city.

So what I've curated here really shouldn't come as a surprise.

By the way, I'll go ahead and give an honorable mention to Gabe's Tower, which is no longer with us. While I attended memorable pool parties on the top floor of the iconic old structure, my favorite memory of the once-luxury hotel is about the time my Aunt Dovey--my grandmother's sister--visited and stayed there. We went to visit and she had invited her old Owensboro friends to hang out. It was the first time I'd ever been in the presence of adults drinking alcohol. For some reason, I thought that was going to get ME in trouble. I kept looking at my mom and waiting for her to lower the boom. Never happened.
