
1981 – Sissy Spacek Wins Oscar for Coal Miner’s Daughter and Dolly Parton Sings 9 – 5
Delayed for one day due to the assassination attempt on President Reagan, it was thirty years ago tonight that the Oscar was awarded to Sissy Spacek for "Coal Miner's Daughter", in which she portrayed Kentucky native Loretta Lynn. Dolly Parton performed her hit "Nine to Five" from the movie of the same name. Eariler that year, WOMI and WBKR Program Director Moon Mullins was at the Nashville premiere of the movie and met one of the stars.
