A New Scenic Byway Called “Ozark Run” Could Be Coming to Missouri
Missouri does not lack for beautiful places to take a drive. If a new proposal is accepted, there will be a new one coming to the Show Me state. The idea is for a new scenic byway called "Ozark Run" that would provide a more organized way to take in the best of (you guessed it) the Missouri Ozarks.
I first saw this story shared by KZRG. According to their story, the proposal has been submitted to the Missouri Department of Transportation. The official website for the proposed Ozark Run Scenic Byway tells quite a story about what they envision:
The Ozark Run Scenic Byway will start in St. Louis, head south to the St. Francois Mountains, cross the Ozark National Scenic Riverways, head west past Bull Shoals Lake, and end near Branson. This 375-mile journey through small towns and wilderness will link together many natural and scenic highlights in the state, ad provide access to numerous recreational opportunities.
Here's a map showing where these roads would lead.
The group has also explained their vision in a video showing what they believe will be the upsides to making this route official.
This project is still in the vision stages as there are a lot of different places and people that would have to approve it. However, it's an interesting start for a compelling idea to help show the world why this part of Missouri is special and why it needs to be seen by more.
