School is starting in less than two weeks for most students around Kentucky. A few school systems in Western Kentucky are getting an early extra day off when the total solar eclipse comes around on Monday, August 21st.

In fact, Christian County Schools are taking the following Tuesday (8/22) off as well. The school board unanimously approved the measure last week. Hopkinsville is one of the prime viewing areas for the eclipse. Hoptown has been temporarily re-branded as "Eclipseville".

Warren County Public Schools are closing on the 21st. Bowling Green Independent Schools will not close.

In our listening area, both Muhlenberg and Hopkins County Schools are closing for the eclipse.

Don't forget! On Friday, August 11th, WBKR will be hosting a special day-long eclipse blood drive. The Western Kentucky Regional Blood Center Bloodmobile will be set up at in our parking lot from 7am to 5pm.
