Arrest Made In Henderson Co. Memorial Day Cross Display Vandalism Case
Henderson Co. Police have made an arrest in a case that made national news. 27-year-old Anthony Burrus has been charged with first degree criminal mischief and leaving the scene of an accident.
Burrus plowed his 1979 Ford Thunderbird through a Memorial Day cross display in Central Park damaging 160 crosses on Saturday morning. Almost all of the crosses, some with damage, were returned but some were completely destroyed. Police found Burrus at his sister's apartment and they arrested him, lodging him in the Henderson County Detention Center.
His first court appearance will be Tuesday morning. Central Park's Memorial Day service will be held Monday morning at 10:00 a.m.
