Today is National Read Across America Day and I had the chance to celebrate with some special students at Highland Elementary. We read the most amazing book!

National Read Across America Day is a day to celebrate Dr. Seuss's birthday and the children love it and so do I. I grew up as a HUGE book reader as a child. Back in the 70s' and 80s' we didn't have tablets or video games, so reading was a staple in my life. I still read weekly up to this day. I was excited to hang out with the kindergarten and children in the 1st Grade at Highland Elementary today. I was even more excited to see what we'd be reading.

'His Royal Dogness, Guy the Beagle: The Rebarkable True Story of Meghan Markle's Rescue Dog' is the book we read and it was SO good! It's a true story and it's precious. The students fell in love with Guy the Beagle. Who doesn't remember when Guy jumped into Queen Elizabeth's car and into her heart last year? The book is a must read for children.

The book provided some fun conversations with the children and about their pets. I loved hearing all about their dogs, cats, snakes, fish, hamsters and lizards! I also loved learning their names and passing along my love for reading. I told them, "On a bad day, a good book adventure can make it a great day". Hit the library and read!

We love that Meghan Markle cares for rescued animals and makes sure that they're safe, healthy and loved. Guy, who was rescued from a shelter in Kentucky by Markle, is one lucky Regal Beagle!
