Each year more than 16,000 pints of blood are needed to meet the demands
of these local hospitals. The Western Kentucky Regional Blood Center
meets that demand by collaborating with area business, schools,
churches, and civic organizations who sponsor volunteer blood drives and
with the support of the faithful volunteer blood donors who visit the
centers.

On Monday October 31, Kathy Lowe visited the Blood Center for the first time. It was their annual Vein Drain and the place was packed. She says the experience was plesant and rewarding. Knowing the blood donation was going to help someone in need give you a special feeling.

"It was fast and easy with no pain at all. The staff was professional and friendly. This made the experience easy for me as a first time donor. I'm pretty sure I will be back on a regular basis. You never know when a family member or I will be on the other side with a need for blood. I want to be sure a good supply is always available", said Kathy as she left the center heading to work.
