See Incredible Then and Now Photos of the Carnival Mardi Gras

The brand new Carnival Mardi Gras was supposed to set sail back in 2020. Of course, the COVID-19 pandemic stranded cruise ships in ports all over the world. However, the cruise line's brand new ship, which is nineteen majestic floors tall, finally set sail on its maiden voyage on July 31st from Port Canaveral, Florida. Just a few sailings later, Bridgett Lamb and her mom Pam were onboard, setting sail for Cozumel, Costa Maya and Mahogany Bay.

In addition to now having family ties to the brand new Mardi Gras, the family has ties to the original too. That original ship was Carnival's first ship ever. It hit the high seas way back in 1972. Bridgett's grandparents, Carl and Lena Stewart, set sail on the ship a few years later- in 1977. Bridgett thought it would be fun to share some "then and now" photos from her grandparents' trip and hers.

Bridgett Lamb of Owensboro recently set sail on Carnival's brand new cruise ship, Mardi Gras. Her grandparents sailed on the original Mardi Gras back in the 70s. Here are some great pics from both trips.

As you can see, Carnival's new Mardi Gras ship is massive, impressive. Bridgett admits, "There was no way to see it all. We didn't even see all of the ship." Of course, they did manage to see the attraction that has gotten the majority of attention with the launch of this ship. The ship has a section called the "Ultimate Playground" and it's home to the world's first shipboard roller coaster. That coaster is called "Bolt."
