The Diocese of Owensboro and Brescia University are pleased to bring a world-renowned harpist to campus for a once in a lifetime concert opportunity on April 27 at 7 pm in the Immaculate Heart of Mary Chapel. Cheryl Ann Fulton, DM, has received international acclaim for performing, recording, teaching and researching harps since 1986. She is America's premier performer of historical harps, and one of the few harpists in the world to play triple, medieval and contemporary lever harps.

Dr. Fulton was ranked as one of the world’s leading harpists in 2002 for her solo performance for the World Harp Congress in Geneva, Switzerland. Her work can be heard on more than thirty albums and soundtracks in styles ranging from contemporary, medieval, and Celtic. Dr. Fulton is also a composer, whose work has been featured on National Public Radio. Her compositions are featured in the popular video game, “Braid.”

Dr. Fulton, a Fulbright scholar, is a contributing scholar for the new edition of the New Grove Dictionary of Music and Musicians and has written a chapter for “A Performers Guide to Medieval Music.” She was awarded the Burton E. Adams Prize for Academic Research for her doctoral thesis on the history of the triple harp. She earned a BS degree in pedal harp, and an MM and DM in early music/historical harp from the School of Music of Indiana University, Bloomington. In 1987 she received a Fulbright award for research and performance in Lisbon, Portugal and while there served as principal harpist for Portugal's Orchestre Gulbenkian. She is the founding president of the Historical Harp Society which celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2008.

Dr. Fulton also belongs to her Celtic harp group, The White Horse Harpers, and founded and directs the medieval harp choir, Angelorum. She lives in the San Francisco Bay Area.
