A new pair of shoes can literally change a child's life.  The Boys & Girls Club of America and Under Armour are teaming up to make these changes happen for our local kiddos.

A donation of 5,500 pairs of brand-new shoes is being distributed among the non-profit community.  This comes as part of Operation Community Cares which was started during the pandemic as a way to bring relief.  According to the Boys and Girls Club of America here are some of the services provided:

  • Distributing food, bottled water, and other necessary supplies,
  • Operating for longer hours, particularly in parts of the United States that are deeply impacted especially for families of first responders,
  • Crafting and implementing contingency plans to meet community needs, including when and how to reopen, event planning contingencies, and more, and
  • Providing emergency relief funding to support Clubs in the communities hit hardest by the pandemic.

Once the shoes were received students from Heritage Park High School helped to organized them all by size.  The sizes of shoes range from 5-14.  Under Armour is known for its outreach in communities.   They are currently working with different non-profits in Owensboro serving youth and their clients to make sure they can provide shoes for all those in need.  The event is called Operation Under Armour.  Some of the groups receiving shoes are;  Girls Inc and H.L. Neblett Center.
