With a year like we've all had, it is such exciting news to be planning to send the kids to Summer Day Camp or make any type of plans at all but here we are!  We've prepared a list of available options.

As I type these camps are filling up fast because Kentucky is opening back up and a lot of parents are returning to a normal schedule.  Here are the options you have this summer for Summer Camps.

I am of course very fond of the Owensboro Parks & Recreation Day Camp, because I was the director for many years.  The staff is amazing, they are American Camp Associated Accredited, and they always know how to entertain the kids!  The kids have a very structured schedule with no room for boredom to set in.  The Parks Dept. also has two options available one camp at the Edge Ice Center and another at the Chautauqua Park location (this location is full for the summer).

When I was growing up I attended the Family YMCA Summer Day Camp.  My son, Tucker has attended and my son, Braden was a Junior Counselor and loved the opportunity to mentor and hang out with the campers.  The Owensboro Family YMCA is awesome and has a brand-new Youth Camp Director, Amanda Tichenor, she is jumping in feet first and ready to make this summer a great experience for all the campers who are a part of the summer program.

The Cliff Hagan Boys & Girls Club in Owensboro also offers Summer Day Camp.  They have two different locations.  One in Heritage Park and also one in Rolling Heights.  They provide lots of activities for the kids and make it a super fun summer!  Normally they take around 300 campers due to COVID they will only accept around 125 campers total.

It is such a blessing to know we have so many options when it comes to planning for summer.  Make sure to ask lots of questions, take a tour, and meet the staff before you pick a camp.  Don't just take my word for it.  Each camp is unique and meets the needs of different children.

Now that I am grown I look back and realize my camp days both being a camper, counselor, and supervisor were some of the best days of my life.  I think every child should experience summer camp!

Celebrating National Kindergarten Day

Today is National Kindergarten Day. We want to celebrate by remembering those special teachers who gave us our start in elementary school.
