Daviess County Records Highest Daily COVID Numbers to Date
The Green River District Health Department has released its daily update regarding new confirmed COVID-19 cases in its seven-county district.
In the press release issued Monday, November 9th, 2020, the GRDHD announced 115 new confirmed cases in the district, with 62 of them of in Daviess County. That's the highest single-day total in the county since the pandemic began in March.
The total number of confirmed cases, to date, is 2,333 with 1,897 of those individuals having recovered, leaving 436 active cases. The GRDHD's latest report indicates that six are currently hospitalized with COVID-19 and that there have been 33 deaths.
Recently, Governor Andy Beshear issued a list of recommendations for Kentucky counties in the "red zone." These are counties that are reporting 25 or more COVID-19 cases per 100,000 residents. As of November 8th, Daviess County's number was 32.9.
Here are the "red zone" recommendations:
- Employers should allow employees to work from home when possible
- Government offices that do not provide critical services need to operate virtually
- Reduce in-person shopping; order online or pickup curbside as much as possible
- Order take-out; avoid dining in restaurants or bars
- Prioritize businesses that follow and enforce the mask mandate and other guidelines
- Reschedule, postpone or cancel public events
- Do not host or attend gatherings of any size
- Avoid non-essential activities outside your home
- Reduce overall activity and contacts, and follow existing guidance, including the 10 Steps to Defeat COVID-19
Other tri-state counties in the "red zone" include Hancock, Henderson, Union, Webster, Hopkins, McLean, Breckinridge, Butler, and Grayson.
