Does America Benefit from Having a Rich Class? — Survey of the Day
After getting all sorts of attention in 2011, Occupy Wall Street has fizzled out. There may be insight into why movement’s message of the one percent versus the 99 percent didn’t win over more of the public in a new poll from Gallup.
In the survey, 1,024 adults were asked if “the United States benefits from having a class of rich people or not.” Sixty-three percent said that it did benefit, 34 percent said it did not, and three percent had no opinion.
Interestingly, those percentages were almost exactly the same as when Gallup asked that identical question in 1990.
