KY Highway 81, a main artery for folks traveling between Calhoun/Madisonville and Owensboro everyday, was recently struck and damaged.

The bridge has sustained damage before, but this time it is beyond repair.

That's the word from the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet, who posted this update Tuesday afternoon:

The bridge was hit on May 18th, but the driver in question left the scene of the accident. According to a news release from the Kentucky State Police, the truck he was driving belongs to United Propane Gas in Livermore.

Drive safe and if you need Highway 81, there are detours.
