You Can Drive a Ferrari or Lamborghini Around a Kentucky Race Track [VIDEO]
I love my car. I love that I'm the only who's ever owned it; it's my first "new" car. The mileage, the color, all of it. I plan to have it for a while.
PUT THE PEDAL TO THE METAL
But when I crossed the state line from Iowa into South Dakota in 2019, I noticed that the speed limit had increased from 75 to 80 MPH since the last time I was there. I wondered if South Dakota drivers push it up to 5 or 9 miles per hour past the limit like many drivers do. While wondering, I DIDN'T do that. 80 is plenty fast enough for me, even though I was in the minority as vehicles were zooming around me.
Now, if I'd been driving something like a Lamborghini, a Ferrari, or a Porsche, well, yeah, I would've opened it up.
I thought about that trip recently when I noticed something at the National Corvette Museum in Bowling Green. I had no idea there was a race track there where you could hop INTO a Lamborghini, a Ferrari, or a Porsche and "open it up."
XTREME XPERIENCE AT THE NATIONAL CORVETTE MUSEUM
The National Corvette Museum Motorsports Park's Xtreme Xperience gives patrons the opportunity to do just that. And you can choose the vehicle in which you will take three laps around the park's course. In addition to the cars I mentioned (including another Porsche), you can also choose from a Ford Mustang Shelby GT500, an Audi R8 V10, a Corvette C8 Z51, or a Charger Hellcat Ride-Along.
It's such a unique attraction, but it makes perfect sense as an adjunct to the Corvette Museum.
If you decide to try it--and I am so tempted--you'll get to see yourself in action while driving.
CAN YOU HANDLE A FERRARI?
I'm guessing the museum updates its cars periodically; the Audi and the Porsche 718 Cayman are listed as new additions. Apparently, they've had a McLaren available in the past.
If you've never heard of a McLaren, it might be because they don't make too many of them, and the ones they DO make run upwards of $300,000. So yeah, you haven't seen too many of them.
THERE ARE XTREME XPERIENCE VENUES ACROSS THE COUNTRY
Maybe McLarens aren't offered right now in Bowling Green--and as along as I could open the throttle and take it up past 100 MPH, I wouldn't care--but you could possibly find one elsewhere. Xtreme Xperience venues are located all across the country.
As might have guessed, many of these Xtreme Xperiences are located at some of the best NASCAR tracks in the country, like Homestead Miami Speedway, for example.
So how does that sound? Summertime means a lot of things; one of them might be racing around a track at top speed in an exotic supercar.
Who knows? Maybe this is the beginning of YOUR OWN Fast & Furious film franchise.
