The community is still reeling from the loss of such a special man. As you know, the funeral had been delayed because Gary's 13-year-old granddaughter, Roxie, is at Norton's Children's Hospital. She had a brain tumor removed on Monday and still has a long road ahead of her.

Funeral Mass will be 10:00 am Monday, October 21, 2019 at Immaculate Catholic Church, with Father Tony Jones officiating.
Burial will follow at Resurrection Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 1:00 pm to 6:00 pm Sunday, and again from 8:30 am to 9:30 am Monday at Haley McGinnis Funeral Home & Crematory.

Prayers will be 5:00 pm Sunday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to “The Pickrell Jar” for the benefit of Roxie and her family, at any Independence Bank location. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.

10/17/2019 Roxie Medical Update:

"MRI confirms swelling related to surgery. She HAS had a stroke in the right side of her brain, affecting her left leg. There is also a possibility she has had a stroke in her thalamus, which affects wakefulness and alertness, which may be why she is still not awake. We are being told her brain is taking time to re-arrange and regenerate itself. She may take days ....or weeks."

"Pray and send us positive thoughts without ceasing." The Pickrell Family

Here's a message this morning from Cathy, Roxie's Mom. "You guys are keeping me going. Seriously. I may not be able to respond to every post but I am seeing them and I NEED them. So thank you."

She went on to add, "Please pray. This looks bleak but it cant be. There is too much positivity coming from Roxie's and our pain and suffering for it to end in any way but a rainbow. I believe in Roxie and I have faith."

I believe there just has to be a happy ending for this family, after all of this tragedy. I have faith that it will and believe in Roxie and her sweet spirit.

You can still send Roxie a card or maybe an iTunes Gift Card, here's the information you need. Roxie loves music and will respond well to this. You can also drop cards off at Gary's Drive-In or at WBKR, and we'll get them to the family. Most of all, say a prayer.
