HBO’s ‘The Leftovers’ Raptures First Trailer: “Like That, They Were Gone”
HBO had itself a banner Sunday between 'Game of Thrones' season 4 premiere "Two Swords" and the debuts of 'Veep' season 3 and Mike Judge's 'Silicon Valley,' so what better time for a look at what's to come? 'LOST' creator Damon Lindelof's rapturous TV return with HBO's 'The Leftovers' has finally come to light with an eerie first trailer that shows off the scope of the world's biggest change.
A bit light on original footage at first, our first footage from HBO's 'The Leftovers' shows how only 2% of the world's population may sound small, but leaves a major impact on the planet when a Rapture-like event suddenly removes 140,000,000 people out of thin air. In the aftermath, we see scenes of chaos from those struggling to cope, dealing with the religious implications of the event, as well as those left behind.
For those unfamiliar, HBO’s ‘The Leftovers’ follows those left behind on Earth after a rapture of sorts, those not chosen to be taken up to Heaven. Adapted from Tom Perrotta’s 2009 novel of the same name, the show’s pilot was directed by Peter Berg (‘Lone Survivor‘), and stars Liv Tyler, Justin Theroux, Christopher Eccleston, Carrie Coon, Ann Dowd, Amanda Warren, Chris Zylka, Margaret Qualley, Michael Gaston, Max Carver, Charlie Carver, Annie Q, Paterson Joseph, Brad Leland, ‘Private Practice‘ vet Amy Brenneman and ‘Fringe‘ star Emily Meade.
'The Leftovers' will premiere June 15 at 10:00 p.m., immediately after the ‘Game of Thrones’ season 4 finale, but what do you think? Does the first look at Lindelof's TV return have you excited?
