Help Celebrate Local Graduates Through Adopt-A-Senior Facebook Pages (PHOTOS)
Owensboro-Daviess County students will not be returning to school. Of course, many seniors are crushed with the news they will not get the graduation they have anticipated their entire lives. You can help celebrate them and here's how.
Laurie Pruden and Brionna Greer, from Owensboro, went to Facebook with the Adopt A Class of 2002 HS Senior (Owensboro, Ky) and Owensboro's #AdoptASenior Pages an idea other states and counties are doing and decided to create a way our 2020 Seniors could be celebrated even without a true ceremony.
Here's Laurie's post and how it works:
Hello to the Owensboro area Friends and Family!! You want to share some extra love with local 2020 seniors. Adopt a senior or 2 or 5! Send a letter, card, gift, gift card, snack, anything to warm their hearts and remind them we’re all rooting for them. It’s a sad time with postponed sports, prom and graduation. Let’s spread some love and have some fun with this!!!
One post per graduate. Post your kiddos pictures, tell us about them! Start your post with “Not Adopted” then share a few things about your senior and post a few pics. (Feel free to add an Amazon Wishlist to the description as well, in hopes that that this will be a graduation party for them!) Once your senior is adopted edit your post to “Adopted”. You can adopt any senior whether or not they’ve been adopted but PLEASE lets make sure they're zero on the "Not Adopted" list first. We want to make sure they all feel our love and support! There are no limits for adopting. After you have selected your senior, just make sure to MESSAGE THE PERSON who posted the pictures, so they can give you all the inside information. ,
Parents you can adopt other kiddos too. Invite your friends, family, church family, community members, teachers anyone.
Search for “Not Adopted” to find seniors that haven’t been adopted yet.... Sound good? Lets share the love!!
