What is 'America's Best Restaurants'?

Matt Plapp is the CEO and Founder of America's Best Restaurants. Using his branded social media and Youtube channel, Matt and his team feature web episodes of locally-owned restaurants, to attract more local customers. So, unlike a destination food show, America's Best Restaurants focuses on unique spots that locals will love if they hear about them.

About the Owner - Casey Todd

I had the chance to chat with Casey ahead of the big visit from the America's Best Restaurant crew. He was born and raised in Kentucky and has had restaurant fever since he was 14 years old.

How long have you been in the restaurant business?

"I started selling shaved ice with my brother when I was 14, and then took over the business at 18. I spent four years away and fell in love with the restaurant industry. So, I ran a seafood restaurant in Bowling Green for 7 years before returning to Henderson."

Are you able to use locally sourced products at Hometown Roots?

"Absolutely! In fact, during the appropriate seasons, we use 80% to 90% local produce and meats."

Hometown roots has been open since 2018. Casey also owns Roast Coffee Shop for the past three years, and a new BBQ venture, Homer's Barbeque that has been open for five months.
