If you fish, what is the biggest fish you ever caught? I guarantee you it was bigger than mine.

I don't fish, but not because I don't like or don't think it's worth my time. I just never have and don't have the equipment. Anyway, the biggest I ever caught was no bigger than the palm of my hand. I was three years old and fishing in a stream in New Mexico. I don't remember it, but I've seen the pictures. As an adult, large turtles kept me from catching anything.

But even those turtles that wouldn't stay off my line in that creek in Grayson County weren't as big as the monster catfish caught recently in the Ohio River by a couple of guys taking advantage of some beautiful pre-spring weather. At first, I thought ONE dude made the catch, but I thought, "No way."

So, a big congratulations to Michael Robinson and Terry Raymer on the catch of the week, as far as I'm concerned.

Now, when I HEAR the word catfish, visions of cornmeal and homemade tartar sauce begin dancing in my head. But this monster was not meant to be eaten. He was tossed back into the Ohio River after being weighed. He was so big, in fact, that Raymer and Robinson didn't have a scale big enough to weigh him and had to call on the services of a third party. That is one big fish.

But here's the thing...it was just "another day at the office" for Terry Raymer. Back in 2018, he caught this bad boy.

And I appreciate a question presented in the comments section; it puts to rest something I mentioned earlier in this story.

Having no knowledge of such things, I gather that the bigger the fish, the less likely it is to make good eating. What a shame. I'm in the mood for catfish-asaurus and now I learn that something that size is practically inedible.

Hey, I'd throw them back, too. They've made it this far. Besides, fish that size can ALWAYS make someone else's day.

I'm still hungry for catfish, though.
