Illinois Is Best Known For Just One Thing & Absolutely Nothing Else
There are a lot of things Illinois is known for, one being the famous city of Chicago and all of the attractions within it.
Since being born and raised in Illinois myself, I want to give you a small list of what makes me think of the good ol' Land of Lincoln! To start, clearly Abraham Lincoln. He's a pretty big staple in this state because Illinois is where he started his political career! Lincoln is also buried in Springfield to make his story a little more special.
Other things Illinois is known for?
CORN - 85% of the state is literally covered in cornfields and you'd know that if you step outside of your house at any point in time.
NUCLEAR POWER - Illinois is home to more nuclear power plants than any other state in the country! The more you know.
THE FIRST MCDONALD'S - The replica of the first ever McDonald's still stands in Des Plaines, Illinois. It's an iconic attraction you just can't resist passing by.
Okay, so those are all great, but what is Illinois BEST KNOWN for by majority in the world? Well, it's really not surprising considering Illinoisans loveeee food...
DEEP-DISH STYLE PIZZA
According to Insider, Illinois is most well known for it's famous deep-dish pizza. I'm ashamed to say I just had my first slice of deep-dish a few weeks ago and I'm 25 years old. It was actually pretty delicious! Very cheesy, filled with flavor, and kinda everything I've ever expected in the perfect pizza.
I don't know, I feel iffy about this. There are just so many other things Illinois could be represented by and they chose deep-dish pizza (lol). What about being the Prairie State? Majorly successful sports teams? The amount of celebrities born here? Legalizing marijuana?!
Wisconsin came at NO SURPRISE... they're best known for cheese. GO FIGURE!
