I wouldn't think that Illinois would rank high for storm chasers, but according to a new report, the state ranks number 9 for the best state to chase storms in. MRO Electric says,

If you feel tempted to chase after terrible tornadoes, your best bet might be to travel to Illinois or Kansas. These two states are the only states in our top 10 not located in the southern or southeast part of the country. Interestingly, they are also the only states in our shortlist to have reported impacts by only one of the storm types.

No surprise that Florida takes the number one spot with an overall score of 80.23 the state has seen destructive hurricanes, tornadoes, tropical storms, and billion of dollars worth of damage. Right behind Florida are Texas and Georgia.

There is a fantastic documentary on Netflix right now called Earthstorm. The docuseries talks about the four major weather events from all over the world. Tornadoes, Volcanoes, Earthquakes, and Hurricanes, and discuss the science behind the weather patterns and the chasers that risk their lives to get videos, photos, and data from these storms. It's a must-watch.

Missouri is not too far from Illinois in the rankings, the state ranks number 13 on the list.
