While we're in the home stretch of 2023, Daviess County Fiscal Court and Daviess County Parks and Recreation are already looking ahead to 2024. As of today, shelter reservations for next year are being accepted for Yellow Creek Park in Thruston and Panther Creek Park off KY HWY 81.

The parks' shelters are available for rental for a wide variety of uses- birthday parties, family reunions, class reunions, company outings, sports team celebrations, summer camps, etc.

As Daviess County Parks & Rec says, "Whether you have a crowd of 10 people or 100 people, the parks department can accommodate your event."

By the way, all the shelters at both parks have picnic tables, charcoal grills, lights and access to a "wide variety of activities."

Those activities include fishing, playgrounds for the kids, baseball and softball diamonds, walking trails and pickleball- the fastest growing sport in the U.S. and, of course, the fastest growing sport here in Daviess County as well.

Making a reservation is very simple. All you need to do is visit Daviess County's official website. Select 'park reservations.' If you're new to the site, you'll be required to set up an account in order to complete the booking process.

Yellow Creek Park is located at 5710 Kentucky Hwy 144.

Panther Creek Park is located at 5160 Wayne Bridge Road off Hwy 81.

For questions and additional assistance, you are encouraged to contact Daviess County Parks and Recreation at (270) 685-6142. Shelter reservations are granted on a first-come, first-served status.
