Love to Fish? These Daviess County, Kentucky Parks Just Stocked with Rainbow Trout
Do you love to fish? Besides catfish, rainbow trout is a favorite in Kentucky, and soon some of our local parks will be stocked to the gills. This is where to cast your line in Daviess County and how to get a fishing license.
Are you a good angler? Do you love to fish? I loved to fish with my Dad when I was growing up. When I was young, he took me ice fishing which was always fun. My Dad worked a lot, so it was nice to have that bonding time. I prefer fishing in a boat because it's peaceful on the water. My husband is an avid fisherman. On any given weekend, he loads the boat and heads to the lake. It's his happy place! How about you?
KY DEPARTMENT OF FISH AND WILDLIFE RESOURCES STOCKING LAKES
We have to wait until March for catfish to be stocked in our local ponds, but rainbow trout was released on Tuesday! If you like to fish, this is welcome news to report.
The lakes at Panther Creek Park and Yellow Creek Park were stocked with rainbow trout on Tuesday, February 13th, 2024. Approximately 750 fish were delivered to each lake by the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources.
Daviess County Fiscal Court with Parks and Recreation is proud to partner with KDFWR on the Fishing in Neighborhoods (FINs) program, providing anglers with quality fishing opportunities close to home.

KENTUCKY LICENSE REQUIREMENTS
Resident/Non-residents Youth ages 15 and younger do not need a fishing license or trout permit.
Residents/Non-residents age 16 and older must possess a statewide fishing license.
Resident Seniors age 65 and older are not required to purchase a trout permit to keep trout if in possession of the Resident Senior License.
Resident/Nonresident Fishing License holders must purchase a Trout Permit to possess Rainbow Trout.
Resident/Nonresident Fishing License holders can fish for Rainbow Trout, but can not have trout.
Any angler can fish without a fishing license on the Free Fishing Days that take place the first weekend in June.
