No, this article is NOT about Sierra Mist, but that soda is an example of a seemingly popular and successful product that for whatever reason goes away forever. I guess that is to be expected from a massive company with so many different brands competing for that almighty dollar.
PepsiCo made the announcement recently that it is discontinuing another popular soft drink brand...
After careful consideration, we will be discontinuing MTN Dew Energy. We are incredibly grateful for your support. Fear not, Rockstar has your back for your energy needs. Find your flavor today.
MTN Dew Energy should not be confused with MTN Dew Kickstart - they are not the same thing, and the latter does not appear to be in danger of being discontinued.
Why Discontinue MTN Dew Energy?
Consumers may have an emotional connection to a certain product, but despite whatever strong feelings there might be, a decision like this is almost always a financial one. Losing a smaller brand like MTN Dew Energy doesn't have that much of an impact on PepsiCo's bottom line. It does allow PepsiCo to redirect funds to invest in an already growing brand or to help launch a new line of products.
If you're one of the heartbroken fans of MTN Dew Energy, just remember that there are some silver linings. There are plenty of other energy drink options out there. There will, very likely, be a new brand of energy drink from Mountain Dew released sooner than later.
