Mrs. Mallonee was named Kentucky’s 2016 Middle School Teacher of the Year during a ceremony in the Rotunda of the Capitol Building in Frankfort this morning.  Mallonee had previously been named one of three semifinalists for the honor by the Kentucky Department of Education and Ashland Inc.

Semifinalists for Teacher of the Year honors at the elementary, middle and high school levels were selected from 24 Ashland Inc. Teacher Achievement Award winners, who were evaluated on teaching philosophies, experience, community involvement and letters of recommendation.

Mrs. Mallonee and the other 2016 Teacher of the Year nominees were then evaluated based on classroom visits and personal interviews by a blue-ribbon panel of veteran educators.  And Mallonnee, we are excited to report today, has taken home top honors.

In addition to being named Kentucky's 2016 Middle School Teacher of the Year, Mrs. Mallone has been awarded a $3,000 cash prize.  And the honor is one of many bestowed upon on the Mrs.Mallonee in the last couple of years.  She was named Teacher of the Year at College View Middle School in June 2014 and was selected as the middle school recipient of the Daviess County Public Schools’ Great Expectations Teaching Excellence Award in August 2014.

Congratulations, Mrs. Mallonnee and College View Middle School!
