Keep the Power Connected [SHAPED BY FAITH]
Having no electricity is frustrating enough, I better make sure I'm tapped into my true energy source!
This week the electricity at my workplace has been very spotty. We would be going along with our normal routines and POP! The lights for the whole building will go out. After spending three days in the dark, I have developed a real appreciation for the wonder of electricity. It is something that we take so for granted, but when it’s not working properly, there is a noticeable difference in the level of peace in our lives.
All the disconnections in power lately, made me think about how life changes when I allow myself to be become “disconnected” or rather distracted from God’s Word and His Will. When I am spending time in prayer and Bible reading every day, life seems to flow along pretty smoothly. However, I’ve noticed that when I start neglecting my conversations with God, life quickly feels burdensome.
“My son, pay attention to what I say; turn your ear to my words. Do not let them out of your sight, keep them within your heart; for they are life to those who find them and health to one’s whole body.” Proverbs 4:20-22
We take it for granted that God will provide our needs and make everything work out all right. But, scripture tells us that a life lived in God’s Will is not a passive life, but an active choice we make every day. We have to tap into the electrical grid of God’s love by laying down our selfish desires, keeping His commands in our hearts, and looking for ways to serve Him all day long. This is where the joy flows from. Let us not take our spiritual health for granted because, just like electricity, life gets dark without it.
