Rick Rhodes, a long-standing committee member for the National Day of Prayer, knows first-hand the results of the power of prayer. Rick had serious back pain that started in 1972. By 2006, after four back surgeries, his pain was unbearable. He suffered so much pain that he eventually lost his job. Rick was desperate for relief and continued crying out to God. After going to the Cleveland Clinic to help with his chronic pain, Rick experienced a miracle. God healed his back and took away his pain.

Rick attributes his miracle to the power of prayer. He was persistent in his prayers and never gave up hope. He also attributes the countless people who prayed diligently,  petitioning God to heal him. Before his miracle, on a return visit to his local doctor, he was given 3-5 years to live because the pain was so severe. Never underestimate the power of prayer! First Peter 3:12 says, "For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, and his ears are open to their prayer."

God is our healer, Jehovah Rapha – The Lord who heals physical and emotional needs. In Jeremiah 30:17, God says: “I will restore you to health and heal your wounds, declares the Lord.”
