Kentucky Public Service Commission Says ‘Fix-a-Leak Week’ Is a Good Time to Stop Money from Going Down the Drain

Life's too short to deal with water bill "sticker shock." You could have leaks of which you are not even aware. And the Kentucky Public Service Commission wants to help.

In a KPSC press release, Chairman Michael Schmitt says that the average home can lose about 10,000 gallons of water a year.

Can you believe that?

TEN. THOUSAND. GALLONS.

Well, that's gotta stop, right?

What about this? According to the Environmental Protection Agency, more than a TRILLION gallons of water are wasted every year.

Somebody get the stopper!

And, well, "getting the stopper" is what "Fix-a-Leak Week" is all about--finding ways to stop these leaks and therefore stop your money from going down the drain, so to speak.

Shower heads, faucets, hoses, sprinklers--they're all culprits.

And so is your toilet.

Did you know you can put a few drops of food coloring in your toilet tank and if the color appears in the bowl 10 minutes later, you have a leak?

The KPSC also advises that new fixture parts usually end up paying for themselves, so THAT'S money well spent.
