I am absolutely pumped about this news.  The Kentucky State Fair is going to return in 2021!!  After a vote this week by the Kentucky State Fair Board, the red light has turned to green and the 2021 Kentucky State Fair is set for August 19 through 29 in Louisville.

Last year, COVID-19 basically sidelined the Fair and all events and activities were closed to the public.  However, it appears it's going to be making a big comeback in a few months.

According to an official press release, "specifics about events, artists and competitions will be announced at a later date."  Obviously, with COVID-19 still very top-of-mind, officials and organizers are working diligently to produce an amazing event, while keeping public safety at the very top of the priority list.

One thing's for certain.  All of the traditional staples of the Kentucky State Fair will be making a comeback- The World's Championship Horse Show, livestock competitions, concerts, food, rides and more. Tickets are expected to go on sale in July.

The upcoming edition of the Kentucky State State Fair will be the 117th.  If you want to keep up-to-date, follow the Fair on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.  You can also visit the official website.  And, of course, you can keep it tuned to WBKR.  We have a tradition of broadcasting live on opening day. Until 2020, I hadn't missed an opening day in twenty years.  I can't wait to go back this August!

After all, our state fair is a great state fair.
