Kentucky Dam Village State Resort Park is offering guided eagle tours to groups who provide their own transportation this winter.

The tours are in addition to the Eagle Watch Weekend the park is holding Jan. 26-28.

These guided tours would be ideal for church, schools, youth and senior citizen organizations to see bald eagles in the Kentucky Lake-Lake Barkley area during January and February. The tours can last from 1 to 3.5 hours and would be suitable for groups up to 35 people. Prices start at $50 for a group and are based on the length of the tour.

A park naturalist will take guests to several eagle-viewing hot spots, help spot these magnificent birds in their wild habitat, and let you zoom in with our spotting scope for closer looks.

During the winter, many migratory bald eagles visit the lakes area, swelling the population to 200 or more eagles. The tours start at Kentucky Dam Village State Resort Park with the naturalist stepping onto your group’s vehicle or leading you caravan-style. The park restaurant is open for groups interested in including a meal during the trip.
