Kentucky’s and Indiana’s Favorite Kids’ Halloween Movie and Where to See It Right Now [VIDEO]

When I was a kid, I can't really say that we had what might, today, be called "traditional" kids' Halloween movies.

It was pretty much It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown and whatever TV series decided to have a Halloween-themed episode. (Hint: not many did.)

Now, I'm not saying there weren't horror movies. There were...and good ones. But they just weren't what you might associate with Halloween AND they came on TV throughout the year on Saturday or Sunday afternoons. Not just at Halloween.

And I don't count the actual MOVIE Halloween as a kids' Halloween movie because, well, kids shouldn't watch it.

It's rated R, for crying out loud.

Yep, kids' Halloween movies have really only sprung up in the last 25 to 32 years, I'd say.

Frontier Communications has been good enough to do the legwork on a survey about kids' Halloween movies and they've come up with the top one for each state.

And it looks like the favorite in Kentucky and Indiana is also the favorite in a majority of U.S. states.

I'm talking about one I happen to like as well--The Nightmare Before Christmas.

Now, to be honest, I've always kind of considered this 90s classic to be a little dark for kids, but, hey, it tops the list.

What surprised me was the absence of Hocus Pocus, a title I've seen pop up a lot lately on Facebook.
