Lilly King Disqualified at Worlds Championship
Lilly King has been disqualified at Worlds.
According to the Associated Press, American Olympic swimmer Lilly King has been disqualified from the 200-meter breaststroke at the World's competition in South Korea.
USA Swimming reported that King won the third heat in 2 minutes, 24.56 seconds, but was disqualified for not touching the wall with both hands at the same time in the first turn of the four-lap race. A formal protest was filed by her team, but was denied by the appeals process.
King’s time would have qualified her second-fastest for the evening semifinals behind. The fastest spot was claimed by Canada’s Sydney Pickrem, who led the way in 2:24.53, according to the Associated Press.
