Local Schools Offering Crisis Counseling Following Whitesville Shooting
Owensboro Public and Daviess County Schools are responding to the shooting early Saturday morning in Whitesville that claimed the lives of two local teenagers. Tomorrow, crisis counselors will be on hand at Owensboro High School and Apollo High School.
According to OPS, crisis counselors will be available for any Owensboro Public School System student who is seeking support or is in need of assistance. Those counselors will be available from 1p to 3pm, Tuesday, June 4th at Owensboro High. If you are unable to attend the open session at school, you are invited to call 270-686-1000 to make another appointment.
Similarly, the Daviess County Public School system has arranged for crisis counselors to be available at Apollo High School from 1pm to 4pm tomorrow. Any student from Apollo High School, Daviess County High School or Heritage Park High who needs assistance in dealing with the weekend's tragic events is invited to attend.
16-year-old Amarius Winstead and 18-year-old Jasper Brown were gunned down and killed at a party early Saturday morning in Whitesville. A third teenager, 19-year-old Tyler Glover, was injured. Authorities are still seeking witnesses and leads in the case. At the time of this story, the Daviess County Sheriff's Department reports that over forty witnesses have been interviewed. However, no arrests have been made.
