I had a first on Wednesday. I donated blood to the Western Kentucky Regional Blood Center via their Bloodmobile. I've only had blood work done once, and it was about a month ago. Yes, I'm a newbie at having needles stuck in my arm, well, I'm saying new since I haven't had a flu shot in 2 years, but it was no big deal.

Since this was my first time, I had to fill out a donor form and I answered several questions about my medical history. I then moved on to have my vital signs checked including a prick of the finger, it didn't hurt. Soon, I was ready for my turn. A couple of the gals at the station were donating at the same time, so I was relaxed and good to go. One thing they told me was "the needle is hollow" thus it's a little bigger than what I just experienced at the doctor's office. I was fine.

The Bloodmobile was air conditioned and the ladies were all very nice and very thorough. We had snacks and drinks on board, I opted for a Sprite. The entire process, filling out forms, vital sign check, and donating blood was over in about 30 minutes. My donation, which will save three lives, took less than 10 minutes. I was totally calm and that's rare when it comes to medical procedures. And even though Chad is scared of needles, I want to thank him for encouraging me to donate.
