The following New Release from the Owensboro Police Department shows again how slick the bad guys can be.

Officer Michael Hathaway warns of phone scams from overseas.

"It always amazes me how easily people are conned into giving out personal information to total strangers.

If you have an older person in your family, living alone, please check to insure they don't fall prey to these bad guys. It is very easy for them to clean out someones entire life savings if they can get just a little  information and a bank account number."

Another group that is easily scammed are teenagers. Teens and young adults get unsolcited texts or calls on their cell phone and tend to freely give out private information.

Such was the recent case of a young lady who posted a Facebook photo showing her counting her Grandmothers money.

It took the bad guys about 20 minutes to identify where she was and to break into the house. Luckily a neighbor saw what was going on and notified police. We can't all be that lucky.
