Owensboro’s Gabe’s Tower to Be Sold to Local Businessman
This isn't just big news! It's really tall news, too. And it seriously affects the Owensboro skyline.
According to a report from 14News-WFIE's Jonathan McEmber, Gabe's Tower could soon be sold.
It seems the former owners of the property plan to sell the now-rundown local icon to Owensboro businessman Robert Zimmerman.
McEmber spoke with city attorney Ed Ray who said the city still wants the property for a bus station.
But if this sale IS finalized, then the city would need to negotiate with Zimmerman, who says he has other plans for the building's use.
The once-proud structure--a luxury destination, really, in its heyday--hasn't had any work done on it since 2015.
There's been no word yet on the name of the resident making the purchase.
