Rodney Taylor passed away on February 27th after a hard fought battle with muscular dystrophy. He loved his life on the farm and the family thought of the perfect send-off.

Rodney Taylor is my cousin, a hero and will be missed by so many. Since 1979, when he was diagnosed with muscular dystrophy, Rodney didn't let the disease define him. At every family event, even after he was confined to a wheelchair, with a trach and ventilator, I just remember his big smile and his caring way. He was something special just like his wife Susie. Her Mom was my Dad's sister.

I came from a big, loving family and there was nothing better then spending time on the family farm in Sturgis, Michigan. I remember, at Birgy reunions, throwing corncobs at my cousins, falling into the pig's mud and playing tag in the fields. Times sure have changed and I wish those times could be bottled up.

Rodney was only 60 years old when he passed away on February 27th, 2019 surrounded by family. He was a hero in life and one in death as well. There's a special reason that the funeral came many days after he passed away. His body was taken to Ann Arbor so his kidneys could be donated. Some recipient received the gift of life! His skin was donated to burn victims as well. His legacy will live on and I couldn't be prouder to call him family.

It was fitting that Rodney was transported to his final resting place in a tractor-drawn hay wagon with family and friends following behind.

I'd like to ask for some special prayers for my cousin Susie, not only because she lost the love of her life, but because she's battling multiple myeloma. And, just like her husband Rodney. Fighting, loving and smiling.
