Postage Prices Go Up on January 27th
Circle your calendars for January 27th. The price of a postage stamp will go up by 10 percent, the largest rate increase, cents wise, in history.
First-class stamp prices for a one ounce letter will increase from 50 cents to 55 cents. For each additional ounce, the rate is actually going down from 21 cents to 15 cents.
Sending packages will also cost you more
Priority mail express will go up 3.9 percent while regular priority mail postage will increase by 5.9 percent.
Flat rates are going up across the board for padded envelopes-up to $8 from $7.25, regular envelope-up to $7.35 from $6.70, and the large flat, rate box rate will increase from $18.90 to $19.95.
Domestic postcard delivery will remain at 35 cents. Metered 1 ounce letters will increase from 47 cents to 50 cents, while additional ounces will be priced at 15 cents vs the current 21 cents.

The Postal Service has not shown a profit in more than a decade. First-class mail revenue caused a $4 billion loss for the agency last year. Taxpayers do not fund the USPS.
