Check your cabinets. If you have a reusable water bottle made by Contigo for your kids, there's a chance it's one of 5.7 million that have been recently recalled due to a potential choking hazard.

The recall, posted Tuesday on the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission website, states the reason as "The water bottle’s clear silicone spout can detach, posing a choking hazard to children," and applies to bottles where the base and cover of the clear silicon spout are black as illustrated in the photo below.

The bottles were sold nationwide at Walmart, Target, Costco, and other retailers which means there's a strong likelihood some were sold here in the Tri-State. So far, Contigo has received "149 reports of the spout detaching including 18 spouts found in children’s mouths." If you think you have one of these bottles in your cabinet, Contigo has a video available on their recall website with step-by-step instructions on how you can inspect it to be sure. If you determine that it is, quit using it immediately and apply for a replacement lid through the Contigo website.
