On the show this morning I got caught up in so much news in America, mainly dealing with headlines out of Cleveland with the discovery of the women who have been missing for a decade.

A diamond heist took place in Brussels, and if you think about it, Brussels Arkansas or Brussels Minnesota sound like legitimate locations.  Anyway a bus load of classy people (31 total) have been arrested in connection with the robbery. (Heist sounds so Hollywood movie)  Also 200 police officers raided a facility in Switzerland and found some of the diamonds and a boat load of cash.  Anyway it was news time on the show this morning and confidently I turn the microphone on and say-" More news from the U.S. today from Brussels Airport (making assumptions that Brussels is United State) a diamond heist has taken place and Simon Owen reports."  At this point i should have known that it wasn't an American story since Simon Owen only broadcasts from London England.

After the report was over the microphone comes back on and I'm pretty much rolling my eyes at this point because this is really dumb and i'm thinking to myself why didn't I just type Brussels Airport into Google and research it.  So back on the radio we go- "Uh.. well apparently Brussels isn't in the United States, sorry about that"

Research is a decent way to avoid small mistakes.  Ha! Lessons learned.
