It looks like our chances of severe weather have increased for Thursday and the entire tristate area is now under a SLIGHT RISK of threats including damaging winds, hail and a brief tornado or two.  Speaking of damaging winds, a Wind Advisory is already in place.

The National Weather Service office in Paducah just updated the forecast earlier this morning and it reflects that expanded risk area.

A big cold front is expected to move through western Kentucky and southern Indiana early Thursday and, when it does, it will bring with it a growing chance of severe weather.

From the NWS:

Widespread showers and a few thunderstorms are expected Thursday, culminating with a dry line passage in the afternoon. Very strong wind fields will lead to a significant damaging wind threat, especially over the southern half of the region in the afternoon. A few tornadoes cannot be ruled out. Weak instability continues to be a limiting factor for severe storms. Heavy rainfall will be possible mainly over southeast Missouri and southern Illinois. 1 to 3 inches of rainfall will be possible and that could lead to some nuisance flooding issues.

A Wind Advisory is already in place here in the tristate and there's another set to take effect on Thursday.  Today's remains in effect until 6pm for entire region.  We could see winds from 15 to 25 mph with gusts as high as 45 mph.  Tomorrow, that wind threat increases with gusts up to 50 miles per hour anticipated.

To top it all off, because the temperature is expected to drop nearly 30 degrees throughout the day tomorrow, our precipitation could end up as a wintry mix.
