Snakes Seeking Higher Ground After Recent Kentucky Rains

You name it, and we can probably blame all the recent rains ON it. I'm armed to the teeth with cough drops and cough syrup. Fun times.

What I need...what we ALL need...is a little snake repellent.

Earlier this year, we heard that the snake population would be on the rise this summer because of all the late winter/early spring rain we had.

Well, it turns out, according to a report from WKYT/Lexington, that the snake population HASN'T really increased.

However, the possibility of seeing more and more of them has increased.

Part of the WKYT story is an interview with a Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife herpetologist who says that snakes are actually seeking higher ground after all the rain we've gotten the last couple of weeks.

That means they could pop up on porches more frequently or in gardens.

I had no idea snakes don't like to get wet. That's a pretty weird hang-up for a slimy creature.

Well, they SEEM slimy, anyway.

At least we don't have to deal with a COBRA like that woman in Pennsylvania who found one on her porch.

At least, I hope we don't.

So, yeah, snakes are seeking higher ground.

Does that mean we all need to move into the basement?
