Social Media Threat to “CHS” NOT Directed at Castle High School
The Warrick County School Corporation (WCSC) sent a notice to parents of Castle High School students Monday morning to calm any potential fears after a student saw a threat posted on social media directed toward "CHS."
Fortunately, the student did the absolute right thing and made administrators at the school aware who in turn alerted the Warrick County Sheriff's Office. After investigating the threat, authorities discovered the threat was made a couple of days ago toward Clover High School in New Mexico, and the person responsible had been arrested by law enforcement.
The full text of the message sent to Castle High School parents from the WCSC reads as follows:
Castle High School Families,
We received information regarding a threatening social media message toward a “CHS” that was discovered by one of our students at Castle High School. School Administration immediately reported it to the WCSC School Safety Specialist who began working with the Warrick County Sheriff’s Department. An investigation by the Warrick County Sheriff’s Department confirmed that the threat was made by a student who attends Clovis High School in New Mexico and he was arrested two days ago.
As always, our staff will remain vigilant in our safety efforts. Remember, if you see, hear, or suspect of any other potential threats against a Warrick County School Corporation School, please immediately contact School Administration.
Thank you for your continued cooperation and support.
