WLES is celebrating the 50th day of school on Thu., Oct. 25th. Students are learning 50’s dances this week with Musick Studios instructors. On Thursday, we will be having a sock hop at lunch time. It will be a fun day!

Veteran’s Day Program
The 9th Annual Veteran’s Day Program is scheduled for Wednesday, November 7th. Breakfast will be served to the Veteran’s and their guest(s) beginning at 7:45am with the program to follow. The Apollo Eagle Family is privileged to invite all Veterans with ties to AHS to attend our ceremony and breakfast. Students and staff may invite any Veteran to attend the program and breakfast. All students and staff will eat breakfast with their guests. If you know a Veteran you would like to invite, please pick up a form in the schools front office, fill it out, and return it to the front office by Tuesday, October 16, 2012. Once we have collected all the names, AHS will send a personal invitation to each Veteran.
Chili Supper
The annual Chili Supper is scheduled for Friday, November 16th. Chili will be served from 5:00 to 7:30. Again this year, along with the Chili Supper and ballgames, the AHS Key Club and Athletic Booster Club will partner together to sponsor a “Silent Auction”. Berta Excellence in Education Workshop 2012
Join The Center for Gifted Studies for this incredible and free opportunity to learn about the social and emotional needs of gifted students from Dr. Tracy L. Cross, Executive Director of the Center for Gifted Education at The College of William and Mary and author of the recently published Handbook for Counselors Serving Students with Gifts & Talents. Monday evening's program is geared toward parents, and Tuesday's is aimed toward educators. However, parents and educators are welcome at both sessions.

Fall Super Saturdays 2012
Super Saturdays encourages students in grades 1 – 8 who are of high ability or have high interest in a topic to pursue their passions outside the regular classroom in a four-week session of classes. Through a hands-on, minds-on approach to learning, students explore and investigate math, art, science, history, writing, music and performance under the thoughtful guidance of experienced teachers and in the company of enthusiastic, like-minded peers.
