Lights. Camera. Action. No, we're not making a movie; I'm getting you ready for holiday festivities. Everywhere you turn, there are lights. Hopefully, the camera on your mobile device works. All that's left is to spring into action and start capturing memories.

I'm bowled over by the Christmas lights I've seen this season in Owensboro and Evansville. More and more people get crazier and crazier every year...and that's a GOOD thing.

I'll see spectacular neighborhood displays through groves of trees and then try to figure out how to get there. Sometimes that's not an issue. Sometimes you don't have trees, and you can see these amazing presentations a mile away--a very cool fringe benefit.

THE LIGHTS AT PANTHER CREEK PARK -- FREE FOR A DAY

What's quickly become a must-see holiday tradition will only set folks back five bucks per carload, but I know how you don't even have to fork THAT over this year. But you have to take advantage on Thursday, December 15th. That's the day when Owensboro Health Regional Hospital will pay for all admissions between 6 PM and 9 PM. You should take advantage of OHRH's generosity and enjoy up to half a million Christmas lights at the popular Daviess County park.

FREE OWENSBORO TRANSIT RIDES

Speaking of free, cue the band...

"On the first day of Christmas, my true love gave to me...a transit ride that was totally free. On the second day of Christmas, my true love gave to me...a transit ride that was totally free. On the..."

You get the idea. Now...get on the bus. I mean, if you NEED to use Owensboro Transit System, get on the bus. And if you do utilize OTS from December 10th through December 23rd, your ride will be free, regardless of the route.

Yes, I know the twelve days of Christmas in the song begin ON Christmas Day. But OTS will not be running on December 24th and December 25th, so we'll just fudge a little and use the 12 days leading up to Christmas.

Happy holidays.
