The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet has announced that a new weight limit has been set for the U.S. 60 bridge at Spottsville.

Due to a deterioration of the steel structure, the weight limit for the bridge has been reduced to 8 tons.

That would eliminate semi and school bus traffic, certainly, and anything much larger than an SUV.

KYTC Department of Highways officials have started to work out plans for an emergency repair. The District 2 office will provide a timeline and let us know when those repairs are finished.

Needless to say, all bridge work is at the mercy of the weather or emergencies or, really, anything beyond the Cabinet's control.
