When Will the Season’s First Snow Fall in Owensboro?

I don't hate a good snowfall. As long as it happens on Christmas Day and then goes away for the rest of the winter, I'm fine. So, yes, there are conditions.

And, man oh man, is it ever hard to even THINK about snow on a day like today. In case you're wondering, it is currently 84 degrees with hardly any humidity to speak of. In other words, this the PERFECT summer day happening in October. I'll take it.

I'll take all the fall weather you got. Bring it over here.

But sometimes, in the mighty Ohio Valley, fall weather doesn't always mean temperatures in the 60s and 70s.

I've seen snow fall on Halloween and that just doesn't work for me.

And in a 2020 that will give us a Halloween that will FINALLY happen on a Saturday and feature a full moon and a whole extra hour (we're setting our clocks back that night), it wouldn't exactly surprise us to have to dodge snowflakes this October 31st.

But the Old Farmer's Almanac says the Ohio Valley is dodging that bullet and will have to wait a week.

According to the more than 200-year-old publication, it looks like parts of the region COULD see their first snowfall as early as the three-day period of November 6th through the 8th.

But what about Owensboro? I checked with Accuweather, and they have a much (pardon the pun) sunnier outlook for those who aren't anxious to see the white stuff.

In fact, if all goes according to Accuweather's forecast, Owensboro might have to wait until the day after THANKSGIVING to see any.

In fact, that whole month of November doesn't look bad at all. And the graphic on 11/27 just shows one little image of a snowflake. So if that WERE to come to pass, it wouldn't be that much.

We shall see. But for now, it might be a little early to be dusting off the galoshes and dragging the snow shovel out of the garage.
