At the Chamber of Commerce Rooster Booster this morning, Kentucky Farm Bureau Insurance Director of Communications, Todd Bright presented Joe Lowe the 2012 Kentucky Farm Bureau Communication Award for Outstanding Broadcaster.

Mr. Bright said, “Each year a broadcaster is recognized for service to their community and sharing the story of agriculture to the community and the Commonwealth.  They are all worthy candidates but Joe stood head and shoulders  above the rest. It was clear that Mr. low is an institution in this community. Mr. Lowe has a distinctive voice, a positive outlook and serves the community with passion. Brett Guthrie endorsed him, Al Mattingly said ‘Mr. Lowe is committed to his profession and his vast number of long-time listeners can attest .’ Thank you Mr. Lowe for your service to this community and to the commonwealth”.

Joe, who is recovering at home, spoke by phone: “I’m a Brooklyn boy but when I moved to Kentucky, I learned about farms. I worked in tobacco fields and didn’t like it. I worked in hay fields and didn’t like that. But the breakfast you’re having you would not have were it not for farmers”.
